SHERWOOD PARK, AB – Something had to give at the Sherwood Park Arena this evening as both the Bonnyville Pontiacs and Sherwood Park Crusaders were looking to snap five game losing streaks.
It was the Pontiacs that would get off the hump with a 3-2 victory over the Crusaders, pulling them within four points of the Crusaders in the standings.
The Pontiacs would get a pair of two goal leads that led them to victory, scoring 22 seconds apart in the first period to go up 2-0, and then to make the game 3-1 late in the middle period and hold off the Crusaders in the third.
With the Crusader loss and the Lloydminster Bobcats winning Saturday night, Sherwood Park is now is a tie with the Bobcats for fifth place in the division with 46 points.
Sherwood Park will look to snap their season high, six game losing streak Sunday afternoon when they host the Fort McMurray Oil Barons.
