SHERWOOD PARK, AB – Completing a month in which he finished 9th overall in AJHL scoring, forward Ty Readman has been selected as the Crusaders Player of the Month. Readman marks the first player to earn the honours in the 2017/2018 season after accumulating 12 points over 7 games through the month of September, a total which included five goals and seven assists.
“(Ty) came flying out of the gate this year, both offensively and defensively,” said Crusaders assistant coach Jeff Woywitka of the selection. “Scoring nearly two points per game is impressive, but we’re just as impressed with his +5 rating. He’s committed to both sides of the puck and has been outstanding for us to start the season.”
After opening the 2017/2018 season being named an assistant captain of the Crusaders, Readman began the campaign with a four-point effort in the organization’s home opener against the Drayton Valley Thunder. In fact, Readman has picked up points in six of seven games to start the season, with the exception coming against the Whitecourt Wolverines on September 24th. Currently, Readman is on a three-game point streak while leading the team to two wins at the annual AJHL Showcase.
In addition to his scoring prowess, Readman became the first AJHL player in the 2017/2018 season to commit to a post-secondary institution, committing to the University of Northern Michigan of the NCAA for the 2018/2019 season.
