Sherwood Park, AB: The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced earlier today that Carter Savoie was one of five finalists for their 2019/20 Top Forward award.
Savoie had an outstanding year in his second season in Sherwood Park. The St Albert native scored 53 goals in 54 games becoming the first Crusader to hit the 50 goal mark since Andrew Luciuk in 1995, and the first player in the AJHL since Chris Van Os-Shaw in 2018. His 53 goals were two shy of the team’s franchise record of 55 set by John Reid in 1983.
The University of Denver commit also assisted on 46 Sherwood Park goals to take his point tally to 99 on the season. He was also an assistant captain for the 2019/20 season.
Savoie will go up against Kent Johnson (Trail Smoke Eaters – BCHL), Brodie MacArthur (Summerside Western Capitals – MHL), Caleb Serre (Blind River Beavers – NOJHL), and Harrison Israels (Oakville Blades – OJHL).
