Savoie Nets Hat Trick In 7-4 Win Over Brooks

Sherwood Park, AB: Sherwood Park, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders got back in the win column last night beating the Brooks Bandits 7-4 after losing back-to-back for the first time this season.

Sherwood Park came out flying against Brooks scoring two goals in the opening five minutes of the first. Will Zapernick (University of Alabama-Huntsville) got the scoring started after he tipped a Michael Benning (University of Denver) point shot by Pierce Charlson in the Bandits goal. Shortly after, Jarred White (University of Alabama-Huntsville) knocked a deflecting puck in to make it 2-0 Crusaders.

Still, in the first period, the Bandits grabbed one back from Tyler Bates; however, Sherwood Park continued to pile on the pressure with goals coming from Arjun Atwal and Carter Savoie (University of Denver) making it 4-1 after 20 minutes of play at the Sherwood Park Arena.

The two teams each grabbed a goal each in the second period. Benning set up Savoie for a one-timer for his second of the game. Then, Sean Chisholm got the Bandits a second midway through the second.

In the third period, Savoie completed the hat trick. After being taken down and drawing a penalty, the University of Denver commit got back to his feet and composed himself to fire the puck by Charleson for his 40th goal of the season.

Brooks answered back with two late goals, but the Crusaders were the last to score as White got his second of the game on an empty net.
