SHERWOOD PARK, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders are proud to announce the signings of Kale Dach (’07) and Lauchlan Kozicky (’06) for the 2023/2024 season.
“We are very excited to add two young players like Lauchlan and Kale,” commented Crusaders general manager Adam Sergerie. “We feel both will be really good players in our league and beyond that.”
Kozicky, a 6’0 forward, played last season with the Calgary Buffaloes U18 AAA program. In 37 games with the club, Kozicky collected a total of 36 points (15 goals, 21 assists). Last season also saw Kozicky make his AJHL debut in a single game with the Cru. In his four pre-season games with this season, the Calgary native collected three points (2 goals, 1 assist).
“Lauchlan was a really important player last year with his team and we were lucky to spend a lot of time with him last season,” stated Sergerie. “Every time we saw him, he just kept getting better and better. Coming into main camp this year he continued with that over the offseason and forced his way onto the team. We have been very impressed throughout training camp with Lauchlan and look forward to working with him moving forward.”
Dach, also a forward, has played the last three seasons as part of the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers program, spending the majority of last year with the U17 AAA team. In 32 games with the club, Dach amassed 46 points (15 goals, 31 assists), with an additional 13 points (7 goals, 6 assists) in 9 playoff games. In a pair of exhibition games with the Cru this season, Dach picked up a single goal.
“Kale has been a very good player throughout his minor hockey career and has always been a player who’s led his teams,” Sergerie stated on the signing. “With Kale, we knew that it was never a matter of him having the skillset to play at our level, but more about whether or not we felt he could push for minutes. It did not take him long to prove to the staff that he was more than capable of pushing for minutes and situations with our team.”
“Kale had a great training camp and was very good in his two exhibition games with us. When it was all said and done, we all agreed Kale needed to be a Crusader.”
The Crusaders would like to welcome Kale, Lauchlan, and both the Dach and Kozicky families to the organization.
Crusaders fans can see Kozicky, Dach, and the rest of the 2023/2024 Crusaders in action this weekend, as the Crusaders host our home opener (September 15th) and Pro Wrestling Night (September 16th) in back-to-back games. Tickets are currently available on tickets.sherwoodparkcrusaders.ca
