Storm Draw First Blood

GRANDE PRAIRIE, AB – The Grande Prairie Storm were able to pick up a 4-1 win and take game one of the best of five North Division Quarter Final on Wednesday night to open up the 2018 AJHL Inter Pipeline Playoffs.

The Storm were able to score the game's opening goal at 4:44 of the first period as the Crusaders kept the game at 1-0 after the first period.

Grande Prairie would add to their lead in the second period and force Sherwood Park chase the game with goals from Edouard Michaud and Noah Walters.

The Crusaders would get on the board late in the second as Ryan Cox was able to put a one-timer past Ethan Slobodzian on the power play.

Slobodzian would make 40 saves for his first career playoff victory.

Crusaders netminder Brandon Vogel was solid in his return to the Crusader crease making several big save to keep the Crusaders in the game, Vogel finished game one with 30 saves.

The Storm would ice the game at 6:20 of the third period with another power play goal.

Sherwood Park will look to even the series at one before heading back to Sherwood Park on Thursday night at Revolution Arena.
