Sherwood Park, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders are back on home ice this weekend for back-to-back home games at Sherwood Park Arena, starting with the Brooks Bandits on Saturday night.
Ryan Papaionnau?s side have shown their dominance throughout the season, boasting a 38-3-1 record and leading the AJHL South Division. Their consistency was shown through last week?s 8-0 win over the Calgary Canucks, but they fell to the Lloydminster Bobcats last night 4-3.
The Bandits have great power on their offence, not at least thanks to Randy Hernandez and Brayden Krieger. Miami native Hernandez (Robert Morris University) leads the Bandits in goals and points (33G, 40A), and rookie Krieger has 71 points and leads the team in assists. (29G, 42A).
Defenseman Jordan Di Cicco has also had an impressive start to 2020, winning an AJHL Defensive Player of the Week award. The London, Ont. product has grabbed six points so far this calendar year.
The Crusaders are heading back to the Park off the back of a defeat to the Bonnyville Pontiacs. Will Zapernick and Nicholas Magis netted for the Cru, but Bonnyville left the ice as 3-2 winners. The defeat on Wednesday night means that Sherwood Park has lost two games in a row.
