Top Moments of 2017/18: Arjun Atwal Returns

On November 28th, the Sherwood Park Crusaders welcomed a familiar face back to the organization when Arjun Atwal and the Saskatoon Blades decided to go their separate ways.

Atwal had previously played 33 games for the Crusaders in the 2016/17 season. The Edmonton native was in contention for the AJHL rookie of the year award after scoring 31 points (14 goals, 17 assists) during that time. That was of course until he was acquired by the Blades mid-season.

Atwal went onto play in 45 games for the Blades before ultimately deciding to take his talents back to Sherwood Park.

Since returning to the organization, he has put on a number of dominant displays on the ice with eight multi-point games under his belt, including a four-point night against the Okotoks Oilers back in January.

The scoring winger would go on to score 29 points (12 goals, 17 assists) in 33 games along with five points (three goals, two assists) in five games in the postseason.

Next season, Atwal will be a huge part of whatever success the Crusaders have. It’ll be exciting to see what kind of damage he can do in a full season in the AJHL.
