Top Moments of 2017/18: Ty Readman’s Commitment

On September 16th, 2017, the Sherwood Park Crusaders were proud to announce that Assistant Captain, Ty Readman had committed to the Northern Michigan Wildcats of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association in Division One of the NCAA for the 2018-19 season.

At the time of the announcement, the 1998-born forward was coming off a career season with the Crusaders in which he finished with 68 points (23 goals, 45 assists) in 59 games and was the highest returning scorer in the AJHL.

“I think for me NMU was the easy choice once I had gone down for my visit”, said Readman following his commitment.  “The confidence the coaches showed in me and the plan they had for not only me but the program as a whole, was really exciting and something I’m proud to be apart of now.”

Readman was also the first AJHL player to commit to a post-secondary institute in the 2017-18 season. He would go on to have an excellent campaign for the Crusaders, despite a couple of setbacks along the way. In 49 games, the Wildcats commit scored 65 points (19 goals, 46 assists). He moved into third all-time on the franchises assists list and also moved up ninth in franchise points.

Before the final home game of the season against the Spruce Grove Saints, Readman was named the teams MVP for the second season in a row.

Ty Readman was a fantastic player during his time with the organization, and we wish him all the best at the University of Northern Michigan.
