The Sherwood Park Crusaders have named centre Ty Mueller the team?s Rookie of the Year for the 2019/20 season.
The Cochrane, Alta. native joined the Crusaders prior to the start of the season, earning a spot on the Crusaders opening-day lineup. He scored his first Cru goal against the Lloydminster Bobcats on Sep. 14, and his first star of the game came against the Drumheller Dragons on Oct. 12 after he had two goals and one assist.
Mueller, who turned 17 earlier this year, finished the Cru?s leading rookie in points. He had six goals and 24 goals for a total of 30 points.
Prior to joining the Crusaders, Mueller played at AMHL level for the Airdrie Bisons. He also made two appearances for the Okotoks Oilers last season, scoring one goal.
The young forward is one of many Crusaders players to commit to playing post-secondary level hockey. He has committed to the University of Nebraska Omaha Mavericks, who are coached by fellow Albertan Mike Gabinet.
The Crusaders would like to congratulate both Ty and the Mueller family on his accomplishments this season.
