Crusaders fans, sponsors, and stakeholders:
First and foremost, the entire Crusaders organization would like to thank you for your patience and support through the past few months as we attempt to navigate through these unprecedented times. Though challenges still remain, we can promise that we will continue to take steps to ensure the safety of our players, staff, volunteers and patrons at the Sherwood Park Arena and beyond.
Since the unfortunate completion of the 2019/2020 season, we at the Crusaders have worked closely with Hockey Canada, the Alberta Junior Hockey League, Alberta Health Services and our stakeholders in building a return-to-play plan that would see the league play a full 58-game schedule beginning in mid-September. A tentative schedule, as well as contingency plans should a September start not prove feasible, will be released through the Alberta Junior Hockey League, in mid-July. More importantly, we have been working closely with both the league and Strathcona County in order to make sure that any return-to-play scenario is done with the health and safety of our fans, staff, and of course, our players foremost in our minds. Over the course of the coming weeks, we will continue to keep you up-to-date on any return to play initiatives brought forth.
There?s no denying that the end to the 2019/2020 season was certainly a disappointing one. Following the most successful statistical season in the organization?s history and with the playoffs looming, the entire organization was excited to kick off our playoff run in the hopes of bringing a first-ever AJHL Championship to Sherwood Park. As we did then, we stand behind the decision to cancel all CJHL-related events including the 2020 playoffs in the interest of ensuring the safety of each of our patrons.
However, out of these unfortunate circumstances comes the prospect of a brand-new season, and as such, a brand-new opportunity for us to continue to build on our success of the past few years. We wholeheartedly believe that our organization has been able to succeed not only due to the incredibly talented individuals who have made the Crusaders one of the most exciting on- ice products in junior hockey, but the people who surround us. Whether it be our sponsors, billets, volunteers, staff members, or the fans that continue to pack the Sherwood Park Arena, we couldn?t be more thankful for the individuals, families, and businesses that continue to support us. Through the next year, our goal is to repay all of you with a premier product, both on and off the ice. Whenever the 2020/2021 season may start, we?ll be ready and waiting to begin the chase for the first championship in Crusaders history.
