Sherwood Park, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders are proud to announce that ’99 forward Jarred White has committed to the University of Alabama-Huntsville Chargers (NCAA, Div I) for the 2020-21 season.
“We’d like to congratulate Jarred to the University of Alabama-Huntsville,” said General Manager Kyle Chase. “Jarred has been an absolutely fantastic player both on and off the ice for us, and he’s an incredible teammate.”
The University of Alabama-Huntsville, located in Huntsville, Alabama, is an NCAA Division I that play in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) conference. The Chargers are coached by Michael Corbett who has been with the university since the 2013-14 season.
White is in his first season with the Crusaders afterbeing acquired from the Fort McMurray Oil Barons this past offseason. In his first season with the Crusaders, the Edmonton native has scored 36 points (19 goals, 17 assists) in 28 games. Before joining the Crusaders, he spent three seasons with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons playing in 132 games scoring 58 points (25 goals, 33 assists).
He plays the game the right way, plays hard every shift, and he’s one of our leaders,” we’re happy to have to him as part of our group,” stated General Manager Kyle Chase. “Jarred has been nothing but a first-class individual since he’s been with the Crusaders. We’re really proud of him, and we’re happy for him and his family.”
White is the seventh Crusader to earn an NCAA Division I scholarship, and the first this season, joining Carter Gylander (Colgate University), Ty Mueller (University of Nebraska-Omaha), Will Zapernick (University of Alabama-Huntsville), Reid Irwin, Carter Savoie, and Michael Benning (University of Denver).
