SHERWOOD PARK, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders are proud to announce both Ryan Zaremba (’06) and Diego Johnson (’06) have earned their places on the NHL Central Scouting Preliminary Players to Watch list.
The list is a compilation of draft-eligible prospects from each of the major development leagues throughout North America and Europe, and will be updated throughout the 2023/2024 season.
“We are really happy for Diego and Ryan,” stated Crusaders general manager Adam Sergerie. “Both players have come into our organization and made such a positive impact since day 1. Both are very deserving of this and we hope that we can continue to help them with their development so that they can continue to climb the rankings and eventually look to be drafted come June.”
“Although still a lot of work that lays ahead of them, it is great that they are being identified and the Crusaders organization is proud to have players being recognized by the NHL.”
Both Zaremba and Johnson are in their first seasons with the Crusaders. Zaremba, a native of Edmonton, Alberta, has collected 11 points (2 goals, 9 assists) through his first 14 games in the AJHL. Recently, Zaremba committed to the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs (NCAA, Div. 1), marking 11 total Crusaders scholarship recipients.
Johnson, originally from Fort St. James, BC, has potted a total of 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) through his start in Sherwood Park. Prior to joining the Crusaders, Johnson had committed to the University of Wisconsin (NCAA, Div 1.)
The Crusaders would like to congratulate both Ryan and Diego on their accomplishment.
